Shooting Night Portraits (With a Tripod)
When you want to photograph people at night and obtain a natural-looking
night scene in the background, use the <
6
> (Night Portrait) mode. Note
that shooting in this mode requires the built-in fl ash or an external
Speedlite.
Using a tripod is recommended.
Shooting Tips
 Use a wide-angle lens and a tripod.
When using a zoom lens, use the wide-angle end to obtain a wide night
view. Because camera shake occurs in handheld shooting, using a tripod
is also recommended.
 Check the image brightness.
It is recommended to play back the captured image on location to check
the image brightness. If the subject looks dark, move nearer and shoot
again.
 Also shoot in other shooting modes.
Since camera shake is prone to occur with night shots, shooting also with
<
A
> and <
F
> modes is recommended.
o If you use the self-timer together with a fl ash, the self-timer lamp will light up
briefl y after the picture is taken.
