Troubleshooting Guide
The external Speedlite does not fi re.
Make sure the external Speedlite is securely attached to the camera.
When using non-Canon fl ash units in Live View shooting,
set
[
z
: Shutter mode]
to an option other than
[Electronic]
The external Speedlite always fi res at full output.
If you use a fl ash unit other than an EL/EX series Speedlite, the fl ash will
always fi re at full output (
When
[Flash metering mode]
in the external fl ash Custom Function
settings is set to
[TTL fl ash metering]
(autofl ash), the fl ash always fi res
at full output (
External fl ash exposure compensation cannot be set.
If external fl ash exposure compensation was already set on the
Speedlite, it cannot be set on the camera. When the external Speedlite’s
fl ash exposure compensation is canceled (set to 0), fl ash exposure
compensation can be set with the camera.
Remote control shooting is not possible.
When taking still photos, set the drive mode to <
Q
> or <
k
> (
When recording movies, set
[
z
: Remote control]
to
[Enable]

Check the position of the remote control’s release timing switch.
If you are using Wireless Remote Control BR-E1, see
Infrared remote controllers such as the RC-6 cannot be used for
remote control shooting when the camera is paired via Bluetooth with
a smartphone or wireless remote control. Set
