Troubleshooting Checklist
If the module is not working properly, refer to Table 4‐2 on page 4‐8 for a checklist of
problems, possible causes, and recommended actions to resolve the problem.

All LEDs are OFF. Loss of power. Ensure that the DFE module was installed
properly according to the installation
instructions in
Chapter 3 , and that the
host chassis is providing power.
No Local
Management
Password screen. Incorrect terminal setup. Refer to the Enterasys Matrix DFE-
Platinum Series Configuration Guide for
proper setup procedures.
Improper console cable
pinouts. Refer to Appendix A for proper COM port
pinouts.
Corrupt firmware image, or
hardware fault. If possible, attempt to download the
image to the DFE module again. Refer to
“
Setting the Mode Switches ” on page B-2
for instructions to clear NVRAM.
Cannot navigate
beyond Password
screen. Improper username/ password
combination entered. If the username/password combination
has been forgotten, refer to “
Setting the
Mode Switches ” on page B-2 for
instructions on how to set the mode
switch to reset the username/password
combination to the default values.
