Chapter 5 Removing and replacing FRUs
Prepare for motherboard replacement
In addition to the replacement motherboard, gather the following materials and tools:
If the faulty motherboard is Type II or Type III:
• Torx tool with T15 magnetic tip
• Phillips screwdriver
If the faulty motherboard is Type I:
• Torx tool with T15 magnetic tip
• Phillips screwdriver
• 5/16” nutdriver
• A rubber mallet or other tool suitable for driving clips over chassis studs.
• Cable ties
• K2 Media Client Release Notes for your current version of K2 software
• Installation files for your current versions of K2 system software and SNFS
software. You can find these on the K2 system software CD.
• If you have the 50 Mb option, you need the Codec Upgrade License CD.
• The following items from the motherboard FRU Kit:
• Baseplate bracket
• K2 Media Client Service Disk Image CD set
• USB cable
• Power cable adapter (necessary only for HD-00 K2 Media Client)
Remove faulty motherboard
To remove a faulty motherboard, first remove the top cover and then remove the
following components:
• Codec board
• All boards that occupy rear panel slots
• The center support bracket
• The rear card guide
After removing those components, proceed as illustrated.
