Chapter 5 Using VTR Ingest

Channel Window Toolbar

The Toolbar lets you perform common functions for recording clips:

Each channel window displays information about the clips in the segment (batch) list:

VTR Ingest Overview

To record clips from a VTR, follow these basic steps:

1. Decide if you want to add handles to your clips.

2. Create a segment list or import an EDL.

3. Record the segment list to your Media Server.

Using VTR Ingest

You can use VTR Ingest to create a segment (batch) list of clips from videotape
recordings, which you then record to your Media Server. For instructions on recording
VTR clips, see

“Creating a Segment List” on page 57

Icon

Function

Displays channel status—A green icon indicates status is OK; a red
icon indicates a problem. Click on this icon to see status for the VTR,
Primary Server, and Backup Server.

Deletes the selected clip(s).

Clears the segment (batch) capture list.

Column

Description

Title

The name of the clip.

Clip Location

The name of the folder where the clip resides in the media server.

Duration

The duration of the clip.

Mark In

The mark points for the clip.

Mark Out

Time Source

Control track (CTLTRACK), LTC, or VITC. Note: if using CTL, clip will not
be frame accurate, instead it will be +/- 10 frames.

Owner

The name of the person who marked the clip

Tape ID

The identification of the particular tape

Error Message

Any error messages describing why the clip was not recorded to the server.

Use Handles

Indicate whether handles have been added to the clip.
