Installation preparation
1. Put on an ESD wrist strap and make sure it is correctly grounded.
2. Remove the blank panel (if any) from the slot to be used on the SPE base card.
To ensure good ventilation, install blank panels in unused slots.
3. Unpack the subcard.
Installation procedure
1. (Required only for the PIC subcard.) Power off the router or remove the SPE base card if the router
is operating.
2. Install the subcard in the base card:
a. Rotate out the ejector levers on the subcard simultaneously with both hands.
b. Push the subcard (with bottom up) into the SPE base card along the guide rails to fully slot the
base card in the base card.
c. Close the ejector levers on the subcard and fasten screws on the subcard with a Phillips
screwdriver.
3. (Required only for the PIC subcard.) Install the SPE base card back in the router if you removed the
base card for installing a PIC subcard in it.
