4. Operation
Indicators
Operator Panel LEDs
Located on the operator panel are LEDs that indicate some of the operational states of the
Communications Server. LEDs that may be found on the operator panel include the following:
Diag - Lights when the Communications Server is in Extended Diagnostics mode. Customer
service representatives use this mode.
Config - Lights when the 1174 is IMLed onto the default configuration. It will remain on
until the Communications Server is IMLed onto a saved configuration.
IML - Lights while the Communications Server is executing Basic Assurance tests and loading
its operating program. When the IML light goes off, the operating program is loaded and the
Communications Server is ready for service.
Check - Lights when an error or failure has occurred that requires corrective action.
Power - Lights to indicate that the Communications Server is powered on and that +5 volts
are present.
HD-Act - Lights to indicate hard disk drive activity (if installed).
Off-line Indicator - Serves no purpose on the 1174-65S or 1174-90S.

The HSC contains two rows of green LEDs to indicate transmit and receive activity on each
of the communication lines.
