Clear-To-Send (CTS)
This line indicates that the Modem is ready to exchange data.
Request-To-Send (RTS)
This line informs the Modem that the Serial Interface is ready to exchange data.
Data Carrier Detect (DCD)
When the modem detects a “Carrier” from the modem at the other end of the phone line, this
Line becomes active.
Ring Indicator (RI)
Goes active when modem detects a ringing signal. This signal tells the Serial Interface that a
phone line is “ringing”. i.e. there is an incoming call.
Data Set Ready (DSR)
This tells the Serial Interface that the modem is ready to establish a link.
Data Terminal Ready (DTR)
This is the opposite of DSR. This tells the Modem that the Serial Interface is ready to link.
