ASCII Host/Device Cabling (65S only)

Use a 25 pin RS-232 connector to attach ASCII hosts and/or devices to the receptacles on the back
of the 1174 Communications Server. The ASCII feature requires a male connector on the cable to
mate properly.

It is recommended that you use one of the following ASCII cables for each host and/or
device. Customer provided cabling is also acceptable. Customer is responsible for the correct
wiring of customer provided cables.

Coax Device Attachment

Dynamic Multiplexing

Dynamic Multiplexing (see the Configuration and Central Control manuals) supports:

• 1199-type multiplexers (or direct device connections) on the following physical ports:

• 1174-65S, Coax Device Adapter (CDA) board ports labeled 0 - 7 (maximum 2 boards)

• 1174-90S, Ports 0 - 8.

• Configuration of 1 - 8 devices on each multiplexer.

• Assignment of logical port addresses twice so that users can access the same

configuration of features from two stations (not at the same time).
