If you are using Dynamic Multiplexing, you must enable the feature during configuration
and assign port addresses on the Coax Port and Mux Assignments panel described in the
Configuration and Central Control manuals.
If you are not using Dynamic Multiplexing, refer to the following for information about coax
port addresses.
1174-65S Device Attachment
Coax devices are attached to the Coax Device Adapter (CDA) board(s) on the back of the
Communications Server.
ASCII devices are attached to the ASCII Device Adapter (ADA) board(s) on the back of the
Communications Server.
Dynamic Multiplexing
If Dynamic Multiplexing is to be used in your network, you can change logical port assignments
by completing the Dynamic Multiplexing Assignments panel described in the Configuration
manual.
Without Dynamic Multiplexing, the 1174-65S may have one or two 18-port CDAs or a 9-
port CDA.
18-Port CDA Board Connections (65S only)
Figure 2-6 shows an 1174-65S with two 18-port CDA boards. They are referred to as the left
and right CDAs.
Figure 2-6. 1174-65S Coax Ports (Two 18-Port Boards)
The right CDA allows direct attachment to Ports 0 through 15. Ports 0 and 8 permit attachment
directly to coax devices or attachment to a multiplexer. Ports 16 and 24 permit attachment
only to a multiplexer.
The left CDA (optional) allows only direct attachment to coax devices. Ports 16 and 24
are disabled.
