aligned with that of the double-push syringe. Secure the mixing tip in
place by gripping the coloured base and turning 1/4 turn clockwise. The
double-push syringe contains pre-dosed amounts of Telio CS Cem
Implant base and catalyst which are automatically mixed and dis-
pensed when the two components are extruded. Thus, Telio CS Cem
Implant can be applied directly into the restoration.
3) Apply Telio CS Cem Implant to the clean and dry inner surfaces of the
restoration. The surfaces must be free of oil and dust at all times. The
working time at room temperature (23 °C / 73 °F) is approx. 2.5 to 3
minutes.
4) Placement of the restoration and removal of excess cement:
Seat the temporary restoration on the abutment(s) with light pressure.
Excess cement can be removed using different methods:
4a) Removal of excess with additional light-activation
(quarter technique):
Light-cure excess material with a polymerization light (approx.
650 mW/cm
2
, e.g. bluephase in the LOW mode) for 2 – 4 seconds
per quarter surface (mesio-oral, disto-oral, mesio-buccal, disto-buc-
cal) at a distance of approx. 0 – 10 mm. Following this procedure,
the excess material can be easily removed with an implant scaler,
as it features a viscoplastic consistency. Subsequently, light-cure all
margins again for 10 seconds (>1000 mW/cm
2
; e.g. bluephase in
the HIGH mode). The usage of glycerine gel (e.g. Liquid Strip) is
recommended to prevent the inhibition layer.
4b) Removal of excess in the unpolymerized state:
Remove uncured excess material immediately after seating, using a
microbrush / brush / foam pellet / dental floss or implant scaler.
Subsequently, wait until the self-curing process is finished (approx.
2 min), or accelerate the polymerization process by light-curing the
cement layer with a curing light (>1000 mW/cm
2
; e.g. bluephase in
the HIGH mode) for 10 seconds per surface.
4c) Removal of excess in the polymerized state:
Approx. 3 minutes after having seated the restoration, remove
excess material carefully with an implant scaler or other instru-
ments.
Leave the used mixing tip on the syringe as a cap until the next
application.
Notes
–
Due to various factors influencing the result when restorations are
cemented on implant abutments (e.g. abutment height and dimensions,
surface texture, fit of the restoration, etc.), premature debonding may
occur or a very strong bond between the abutment and the restoration
may be established.
If premature debonding occurs, adhesion can be improved by roughen-
ing the restoration and abutment surfaces. Treatment of the abutment
always has to be performed outside the mouth.
Zirconium oxide
Sandblast the surfaces (parameters according to the instructions of the
manufacturer).
Metal or metal-supported restorations
Sandblast the restoration surface (parameters according to the instruc-
tions of the manufacturer) until an even matt surface has been achieved.
Resin-based (Telio CAD / Telio Lab) restorations
Sandblast the inner restoration surfaces (parameters according to the
instructions of the manufacturer. For Telio Lab / Telio CAD use Al

,
100µm, at 1 – 2 bar (15 – 29 psi) pressure.
Following surface treatment, thoroughly rinse the restorations and
abutments with water spray and dry with oil-free air. If necessary, clean
the restoration in an ultrasonic unit for about one minute.
–
If the restoration cannot be removed with conventional methods,
access to the screw channel is created by means of trepanation.
–
Extruding material without the mixing tip in place may result in a
cross-contamination of the Telio CS Cem Implant components.
–
Like all other composites, Telio CS Cem Implant is subject to oxygen
inhibition. Therefore, the setting time of the cement when mixed on a
mixing pad outside the mouth cannot be taken as a reference for the
intraoral setting behaviour.
Warning
–
Contact of the uncured material with the skin, mucous membrane or
eyes must be avoided. Unpolymerized Telio CS Cem Implant may cause
slight irritation and in very rare cases, sensitization may occur if the
skin is exposed repeatedly.
–
Commercial medical gloves do not provide protection against the sen-
sitizing effect of methacrylates.
Working time
At room temperature (23 °C / 73 °F) approx. 2.5 – 3 minutes, intraorally at
body temperature (37 °C / 98 °F) approx. 1.5 – 2 minutes.
Setting time
Self-curing: At body temperature (37 °C / 98 °F) approx. 3 minutes.
Exposure to light from a light-curing unit will accelerate the polymerization
process.
Storage
Shelf life: see expiry date on label/packaging
–
Do not use after the indicated date of expiration.
–
Store at 2 – 8 °C / 36 – 46 ºF
–
Use only at room temperature (cooled material is more viscous and
takes longer to cure).
