1 Check Battery
a Battery acid level in each battery cell
should be even with bottoms of tubes in cells (Fig
22). Add ONLY distilled water if necessary
NOTE; DO NOT OVERFILL
b Keep battery and terminals clean
c Keep battery bolts tight
d Keep vent caps tight and small vent holes m caps
open
e Recharge at 6 amperes for 1 hour if necessary
NOTE: OVERCHARGING WILL SHORTEN BATTERY LIFE

battery to "leak" power

a Remove terminal guard
b Disconnect BLACK battery cable then RED bat
tery cable and remove battery from tractor
c. Wash battery with eo grams (1/4 cup) of baking soda
to 3 8 litres (1 gallon) water.
NOTE: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE SODA SOLU
TION INTO THE CELLS
■j Rinse itie battery with plain water, dry and
reinstall on tractor
e Clean terminals and battery cable ends with wire
brush until bright
f Replace battery cables, connecting RED battery
cable to positive terminal first, then BLACK bat
tery cable to negative terminal Coat terminal con
nections with
petroleum jelly,
g Replace terminal guard

Change Engine Oil
The best time to change engine oil is at :he end of
a day's operation when all dirt and foreign materials
are suspended in the hot oil

Clean Air Cleaner Foam Pre-Cleaner
(Fig. 231
a. Remove Wing Nut and cover.
b. Remove foam pre-cleaner element by sliding it off
of the paper cartridge..
a. Wash foam pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and
water.
d. Wrap foam pre-cleaner In cloth and squeeze dry..
e. Lightly coat foam pre-cleaner with engine oil (Do
not saturate). Squeeze in rag or towel to remove
excess oil.
f.
Install foam pre-cleaner over paper cartridge..
Reassemble cover and screw down tight
