Activating the FAX ONLY mode

If the AUTO ANSWER light is off, turn it on by pressing

(AUTO ANSWER].

• The display will show the following.

• The number of rings before a call is answered can be

changed (p. 60).

Note:

• This mode should not be used with a telephone line

which is used for both voice and fax calls. When the
unit answers the cal!, fax communication is attempted
with the other fax machine even if someone is trying to
call you.

If you have a telephone line just for receiving faxes, we recommend the

following setup.

Line 1 - Voice calls

Only a fax machine

is connected.

Line 2 - Fax calls

Example:

One telephone line is used for voice calls and a separate telephone line for faxes. If someone
sends a fax to Line 2, the fax machine will ring.
