ABOUT THE SECURHY CODE SYSTEM
Sony cordless telephones are equipped with a security code system that automatically matches
the handset to the base unit through unique security codes. Each time you receive or initiate a
call, the security code is exchanged between the handset and the base unit so that only the
matching handset and base unit are connected. This prevents the problem of “cross-signaling",
where for example the handset of your unit unintentionally connects with the base unit of your
neighbor’s cordless phone and vice-versa.
(This is not to be confused with the interference you may encounter during a call from other
equipment operating nearby, including cordless telephones. The channel selection feature
helps you minimize such interference.)

With the automatic security code system in this unit, a unique code is set when you initially
place the handset on the base to charge, and that code is maintained as long as the AC power
to the base unit is maintained. In case of a prolonged AC power interruption, the base unit will
reset with a new code upon power restoration, and if the handset has been away from the base
during that time, it will need to be placed back on the base for a few seconds for the new code
to be passed on to the handset.
Aside from this situation, the security code system works automatically, and normally you will
not need to worry about it at all. Most other cordless telephones also incorporate similar
security code systems.
Only in the rare event that you need to manually change the code, the following are the
instructions to do so.
Make sure that the MODE switch is set to RiNG ON position.
