Chapter 6 Upgrading Device Firmware
This chapter describes the procedure of upgrading firmware in the ETC2002
through the COM3 RS-232 service port using Windows HyperTerminal.
When you put your device into program mode, its COM3 port operates at
19200 baud by default. Downloading firmware at a slow baud rate may be
very time-consuming. It is recommended to use the maximum available
speed of 115200 baud for downloading firmware. Prepare a HyperTerminal
session file for communicating with the ETC2002 at 115200 baud before you
start upgrading firmware in your device. See
Chapter 4 for information on preparing a session file for HyperTerminal.
Opening a Terminal Session
1. Connect your PC to the ETC2002 COM3 RS-232 port
using the standard RS-232 DTE-DTE (null-modem) cable
that came with your ETC2002.
2. Run a HyperTerminal session. See
in Chapter 4 for information on launching and configuring
HyperTerminal.
3. Put the PROG-RUN key on the front of the ETC2002 in
the PROG position.
