Once you’ve chosen a seating location,
follow instructions in the section
“Installing the Base: With LATCH”
on page 30 if LATCH anchors are
available.

If LATCH anchors are not available,
the Base and Infant Car Seat must
be installed with a vehicle seat belt.
Follow instructions in “Installing the
Base: With Vehicle Seat Belts” on page
37.

Choosing Where to Install the Base

Choose a seating location in your
vehicle that has acceptable LATCH
anchors or vehicle seat belts that are
safe to use (Refer to “Your Vehicle
Restraint Options”).

Seat geometry and vehicle seat belt
geometry may also affect how securely
the Base and Infant Car Seat can be
installed.

According to crash statistics, children
are safer when properly restrained in
rear vehicle seating locations, rather
than front seating locations.

The center rear seating location is the
safest if ALL the following conditions
are met:

- Lower LATCH anchors spaced

between 11 and 20 inches (280 and
