• Another function that restricts the
Image
mode option is enabled.
• Available image modes differ according to the
current shooting mode.

released.

sound in setup menu. No sound is heard with
some shooting modes and settings, even when
On is selected.
AF-assist illuminator does not
light.
Off is selected for the AF assist option in the
setup menu. AF-assist illuminator may not light
depending on the position of the focus area or
the current scene mode, even when

selected.
Images appear smeared.
Lens is dirty. Clean lens.
Colors are unnatural.
White balance or hue is not adjusted properly.
Randomly spaced bright pixels
(“noise”) appear in image.
Shutter speed is too slow or ISO sensitivity is high
as the subject is dark. Noise can be reduced by:
• Using flash.
• Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting.
Images are too dark
(underexposed).
• The flash mode is set to W (off).
• Flash window is blocked.
• Subject is beyond flash range.
• Adjust exposure compensation.
• Increase ISO sensitivity.
• Subject is backlit. Select
R (backlighting) or
set the flash mode to X (fill flash).
Images are too bright
(overexposed).
Adjust exposure compensation.
Unexpected results when flash
set to V (auto with red-eye
reduction).
When using V (auto with red-eye reduction)
or e (night portrait) to take pictures using the
flash, In-Camera Red Eye Fix may be applied to
areas not affected by red-eye. Use any shooting
mode other than e (night portrait), change the
flash mode to any setting other than V (auto
with red-eye reduction), and then try taking a
picture again.
