The bracket shown below provides a rigid mount for the speed sensor.
At low speeds excessive vehicle vibrations can cause erroneous readings if the
sensor mounting bracket doesn’t provide adequate support. A correctly assem-
bled bracket is shown below along with an example of a bracket assembled the
wrong way.

On rear wheel drive vehicles the sensor is mounted on the chassis or floor pan
adjacent to the magnet.

Determine what’s behind the sensor bracket mounting surface before you install the
bracket so you won’t accidentally penetrate fuel lines, brake lines, vacuum lines, control
cables or electrical wiring.
Choose the mounting location for the sensor mounting bracket and support
bracket. Make sure the support bracket is reinforcing the sensor mounting
bracket against vibration.

Adjust the bracket assembly for the proper gap between the reed switch tip
and the magnet.
