Cause and solution
Problem
Causes:
•
Too much snapshot data is stored in the pool.
•
Pool capacity is too small.
•
Pool threshold is too small.
Solutions:
•
Delete snapshot data that is less important or delete old snapshot
data to decrease the pool usage rate. See “
•
Add some pool volumes to increase the pool capacity. See
“
•
Set the pool threshold to a larger value. See “
In addition, after the problem is solved, you must complete the SIMs.
If you do not, new SIMs cannot occur, even if the usage rate exceeds
the threshold again. For more information, see “
NOTE:
You need unused volumes to add pool volumes. If there are no
unused volumes, create new volumes or contact your HP account
support representative to add hard disks. Therefore, it might
take time to solve the problem.
Pool usage rate exceeds the threshold.
Causes:
•
1,024 pool-VOLS are already set in the pool.
•
Available pool management block in the V-VOL management
area (which is in shared memory) is insufficient.
Solutions:
•
Add pool-VOLs to another pool. See “
•
Initialize the V-VOL management area. See “
Cannot add pool-VOLs.
Causes:
•
There are not enough differential tables to create pairs.
•
Conditions to create the pair are not fulfilled.
•
Volumes specified to create the pair are in SMPL(PD) status be-
cause the pair is being deleted.
Solutions:
•
Secure enough differential tables to create the XP Snapshot pairs.
See “
Calculating the number of Snapshot XP pairs you can cre-
•
Fulfill conditions to create the pair and try the pair creation again.
See “
•
On the XP Business Copy main pane, verify that the volume's
status changes to SMPL, and try creating the pair again.
•
Execute XP RAID Manager's inqraid command, verify that XP
Snapshot is not using the volume, and then try the pair creation
again.
Cannot create XP Snapshot pairs.
