Diagnostic and Cleaning Cartridge Cells
This procedure applies to the Reserved Cells area (shown in
). This area is
reserved for cleaning and diagnostic cartridges for each tape drive type. The reserved
cells are located below CAP B (for tape libraries with two CAPs) or below the front
viewing window (for tape libraries with two CAPs), or below the front viewing window
(for tape libraries with only one CAP).
Reserved Cell Descriptions
on page 5-15, the top cell is reserved for in-transit cartridges. Do not
place any cartridges into this cell. This cell has two functions:

It allows the robot to swap tape cartridges within the tape library.
•
It is used as a drop-off cell in case the tape library loses power and the robot has a
cartridge in the hand.
