Copying Volume Sets Not Created by BACKUP or

BACKCOPY

When converting your site to DSM/TC and you need to catalog a backup volume
set that was created before DSM/TC was in use, including all its disk files, you
must copy the backup tape with the BACKCOPY utility, using the CATALOGFILES
option:

12> ADD DEFINE =IN, CLASS TAPE,&

12> & USE IN,&

12> & LABELS BACKUP,&

12> & FILEID OPS_BACKUP,&

12> & VOLUME (A00020)

13> ADD DEFINE =OUT, CLASS TAPECATALOG,&

13> & USE OUT,&

13> & LABELS BACKUP,&

13> & POOL OPS_TAPES,&

13> & VOLUME SCRATCH,&

13> & FILEID OPS_BACKUP

113> BACKCOPY =IN, =OUT, *.*.*, CATALOGFILES

After the BACKCOPY run, the copied backup tape is on cataloged tape T00444.
The tape file entry for OPS_BACKUP is:

Copying Volume Sets Not Created by BACKUP or BACKCOPY

To create copies of volume sets with processes other than the BACKUP or
BACKCOPY utilities and keep the generation designation the same as the original
volume set, you must specify a value for the TAPECATALOG DEFINE attributes GEN
and PHYSICAL. If you do not specify these attributes, the generation entry is
incremented in the DSM/TC database. BACKCOPY is a standard Backup Restore
utility.

Copies of TMF Tape Volumes

In a TMF environment, the audit dump process can be configured to produce one copy,
two parallel copies, or two or three serial copies. DSM/TC does not track TMF audit
dumps in its catalogs, but $ZSVR works with the TMF catalog process ($XCAT) to
automatically handle requests for substitute TMF audit dump volume sets. To identify
