Wrenches: 10mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm
Drill Bits: None
Note: Transmission cooler and Power Steering cooler are required for max. towing capacity (See vehicle owner’s manual for details).
2001-2003 Acura MDX & 2001 and later Honda Pilot:
1. Remove tow hook from driver’s side of vehicle and return hook and fasteners to vehicle owner.
2. Lower exhaust by removing three rubber muffler hangers.
3. Raise hitch into position and install fasteners as shown above.
4. Reinstall muffler hangers removed in step 2.
5. If exhaust rattle occurs, trim rearward exhaust heat shield between crosstube and muffler.
2004 Acura MDX
1. Remove tow hook from driver’s side of vehicle and return hook and fasteners to vehicle owner.
2. Remove fascia under covering by removing bolts and fascia clips shown above and return to vehicle owner.
3. Lower exhaust by removing four rubber muffler hangers.
4. Raise hitch into position and install fasteners as shown above.
5. Reinstall muffler hangers removed in step 3.

Qty. (6) Hex Bolt M12 x 1.25 x 35mm CL8.8

Qty. (6) Conical Washer – ½”
Tighten all m12 x 1.25 CL8.8 fasteners with torque wrench to 68 Lb.-Ft.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent
entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a
vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

SAE J684.
