Installation Instructions
Chevrolet/GMC Pickup ( All w/8’ box), Dodge pickup (All
except D50 and vehicles with Heavy Duty Suspension), Dodge
Ramcharger ( Except with skid shield), *Ford Pickup (All) 1980
and later Ford-(see Step 6), Ford Bronco, Ford F350 Super Duty
Cab & Chassis, International Pickup, Plymouth Trailduster

1.
Remove spare tire from vehicle. Note: To retain under-box tire stowage, spare tire carrier will have to be relocated and/or modified.
Note: On some Ford Pickup models equipped with 16” spare tire, it will be necessary to adjust spare tire cradle to retain under vehicle tire
stowage after hitch is installed.
2.
Measure vehicle frame width. For 34” Frames, position side bracket with mounting flanges pointing inboard. For 38” Frames, position bracket
with mounting flanges pointing outboard.
3.
Lift bracket into position, placing rear-most mounting tab at end of vehicle frame. Clamp bracket to frame.
4.
Using slotted holes in bracket as a guide , drill (6) 1/2” diameter holes in frame. Note: In some cases, it may be possible to use existing holes
in frame.
5.
Install side bracket mounting fasteners as Shown, placing blocks inside frame. Do NOT tighten at this time.
6.
* 1980-Later Ford Pickups require 1685 Fastener Kit. (Order Separately)
7.
Repeat Step 3, 4, and 5 on opposite side of vehicle.
8.
Install Crosstube Assembly into side brackets. Install bolts, flat washers and flanged locknuts. Torque to 95 LB-FT. (129 N*M).
9.
Tighten all side brackets to frame fasteners to 75 LB-FT. (102 N*M).

Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5
and SAE J684.

Note: 1981 and Later, Chevrolet & GMC Application with Step Bumpers Require removal of support brackets to
the Frame. These brackets should be retained for replacement upon removal of the hitch. The Step Bumper
should Not Be Used for towing with the brackets removed

Attach receiver to vehicle as shown above. Note: that the block (Item 2), conical washer (Item 3) and hex nut (Item 4) used are included with
the fasteners provide with the receiver.
