Introduction to SIS
The MLA VC10 Plus accepts SIS commands from a control device connected to the RS-232
3-pin captive screw connector on the rear panel or to the female mini B USB port on the
front panel.
NOTES: • The wiring in the RS-232 cables crosses over so that the Tx of one device
connects to the Rx of the other and vice versa.
• Neither port takes precedence over the other. Commands are always
processed in the order that they are received.
The RS-232 protocol is 9600 baud, 8 data bit, 1 stop bit, and no parity.
SIS commands consist of a string (one or more characters per command field). Unless
otherwise stated, upper and lower case characters may be used interchangeably.
When a command is valid, the MLA executes that command and sends a response to
the host device. Commands do not require any special characters to begin or end the
command string. Each response from the MLA VC10 Plus ends with a carriage return and
a line feed (CR/LF =
] ), which signals the end of the response character string.
When the MLA VC10 Plus is first switched on, it sends the message:

where 60-1090-01 is the catalog part number and V x.xx is the firmware version number.
