Relay
Mute Control
NOTE: By default, the Auto Mute feature of the MLA VC10 Plus automatically triggers
the relay when the volume level reaches 0%. If you use a controller to trigger
the relay instead, this Auto Mute feature must be disabled by
(see page 35).
1.
Consult the user guide for the amplifier to see whether
mute control is available with the amplifier and whether
the mute terminals need to be opened or closed for mute
to be activated. In most cases, amplifiers will require the
NO pin to be used.
2.
Connect the three-pole, 3.5 mm captive screw Relay
connector to the amplifier. The examples below show
the MLA VC10 Plus connected to the Paso DMS 3040
amplifier.
ATTENTION: Different manufacturers mark the
connections differently. The amplifier
shown in the figure at the right is
an example. To avoid damage to the
amplifier, ensure the wiring is correct
for the amplifier you are using.
Other Uses
The relay can be used for any general purpose relay control once
the Auto Mute function (enabled by default) has been disabled
by SIS commands.
One common example is to put the amplifier into standby mode,
for conserving power, as shown with the Extron XPA 1002
amplifier in the figure at right.
Connect the RS-232 control processor to the MLA VC10 Plus and
configure the mute function (see the user guide for the control
processor for instructions).
