ASUS DiGiMatrix

Secondary IDE connector. This connects the DiGiMatrix
subsystem for additional data storage.

CPU socket. This 478-pin surface mount, Zero Insertion Force
(ZIF) socket is for the Intel

®

Pentium

®

4/Celeron (Northwood)

processor with 533/400 MHz system bus that allows 4.3GB/s and
3.2GB/s data transfer rates, respectively.

DDR DIMM sockets. These two 184-pin DIMM sockets support up to
2GB using unbuffered non-ECC PC2700/2100/1600 DDR DIMMs.

North bridge controller. This SiS651 controller integrates a high
performance host interface for the Intel

®

Pentium

®

4/Celeron

processor, a DDR 333/266 memory controller, and the SiS
MuTIOL

®

technology that allows interface with the south bridge

controller at rates of up to 1GB/s.

IEEE 1394 controller. This 1394 controller provides up to 400
Mbps data trasfer rate for throughput devices such as DV
camcorders, digital cameras, scanners, and printers.

AudioDJ controller. This chip allows you to play MP3 files from
the optical drive or from your hard disk drive without entering the
operating system.

Audio CODEC. This chip is an AC ’97 compliant audio CODEC
that allows 6-channel audio playback.

Card reader controller. This is a 6-in-1 card reader controller with USB
1.1 interface that allows faster data transfer rates for storage cards.

Card reader firmware. This chip contains the programmable
EEPROM for the card reader.

Flash EEPROM. This 4Mb ISA chip contains the programmable
BIOS program.

Super I/O chipset. This Low Pin Count (LPC) interface provides
the commonly used Super I/O functionality. The chipset supports a
Standard Infrared (SIR), TV remote control, PS/2 mouse, PS/2
keyboard, card reader, and Flash ROM. It also employs the
SmartGuardian technology that monitors CPU and chassis fan
speeds and other system conditions.
