OPERATION
Sending Commands to the RS485 Interface
All commands to be sent to the specific RS485 must be preceded by the “@”
character and the two digit address set up in the COM menu. For example, to
send a print command to the RS485 that is setup as address 01, the user must
send the following sequence: “@01P”.
Receiving Data from the RS485 Interface
Each response from the RS485 is preceded by the @ character and the two digit
address set up in the COM menu. For example, the same setup as above might
respond to the print command with the following reply: “@01 10.005 kg “.
Broadcast Commands
Using the address “00” with a command will act as a broadcast command, and
received by all systems on the RS485 network. Under normal circumstances there
is no response from a broadcast command. This is to insure that there is no
uncontrolled data being placed on the line.
If the address of a system is intentionally set to 00, then there may be a response
from this one system following a broadcast command. This option should be
used with care since the response will also contain the 00 broadcast address.
