Operating Error or Erroneous Data
An Operating Error or Erroneous Data error occurs if vehicle’s computer(s)
stop(s) communicating with Tool.
1. Make Selection.
• Press the
LEFT or RIGHT
arrow key.
• Press
ENTER.

Battery Replacement
The Tool requires a 9V alkaline battery to operate without vehicle power. Review
Codes, Code Lookup, and System Setup functions work on internal battery and
vehicle power. The Read Codes function works on vehicle power only.

When the battery needs to be replaced, the low-battery icon ( ) displays.

Rechargeable batteries do not last as long as alkaline types and are not
recommended.
✓
Non-rechargeable Lithium (Li) battery can be used. Though Lithium types
last longer than the alkaline types, and they are more expensive.
