Access Control
Using thi s option all ows you to specify different privileges for the cl ient
PCs.
The WAN interface should have a fixed IP address to properly utilize this
functi on. For example, if you set Type/Public Port to TCP/80 (HTTP or
web) and the Privat e IP/Port to 192.168.1.2/8080, then all HTTP requests
from o ut si de users wil l be t ransferred t o port 80 80 on 192. 168 .1. 2.
Therefore, by j ust ent ering the IP Address provided by t he ISP, Internet
users can access the service you provide at the internal address and port to
which the BLW-04EX redirects them.
Some of the more common TCP service ports include:
HTTP: 80, FTP: 21, Telnet: 23 and POP3: 110.
Security Settings Firewall
The firewall does not significantly affect system performance, so we advise
enabli ng i t to protect your network us ers. Select “Enable” an d cli ck the
“APPLY” button to open the Firewall submenus.
The B LW- 0 4 E X ’s firewal l can provide the access co ntrol of co nnected
cl ient PCs, block common hack er at tacks , including IP Spoofing, Land
Att ack, Pi ng of Death, IP wit h zero lengt h, Smurf Att ack , UDP p ort
loo pback , Sno rk At tack, TC P nul l scan, and TC P SYN fl oodi ng. The
firewall does not si gnificant ly affect s ystem performan ce, so we advise
leaving it enabled to protect your network users.
Note:
Wh en y ou select t he “Enabl e” radio b utt on of th e “Enable or di sable
Firewall module function” field, be sure to press the “APPLY” button.
