This section contains general installation information for all optional expansion
modules for Passport 4400 units. For information on installing interface modules
refer to the following sections:
• Section 5, “Ethernet Base Module and Interface Modules”
• Section 8, “Analog Voice Modules.”
Safety Information
Before performing any of the procedures included in this section, see the
information in “Safety Information” on page 1-4.
Notice of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
The following label certifies that, when installed in an approved chassis, the voice/
fax module meets EMC Level A of the EN55022 Standard. This label is also affixed
to the voice/fax module.
In addition to the EMC Standard, this module meets and complies with the EU
50082 Immunity Standard.

Modules cannot be inserted into or removed from the unit while
the Passport 4400 unit is operating. This could cause damage to
the unit or interruption of network service or both.

Do not connect external cables until module installation is
complete.

When working inside the unit, be sure to take all precautions
against electrostatic discharge.

This is a Class A product. In a domestic environment, this product
may cause radio interference, in which case the user may be
