This section makes the assumption that all expansion modules have been
installed and the Passport 4400 is ready to connect to the network. If you need to
install expansion modules in the unit, refer to Section 6, “Installing Expansion
(Data and Voice) Modules.”

If you wish to provision your 4400 for network use prior to adding cables, please
refer to the 800-1952-20, Passport 4400 Operator’s Manual.

The Ethernet Base Module has six connectors, as follows:

• Management port

• Frame Relay DCE, Port 1

• Ethernet access port: 10BaseT

• Ethernet access port: AUI

• Port 2 (MPANL)

• Port 3 (WAN backup).

Port 2 and Port 3 are slots for plug-in modules supporting additional interfaces:

• ISDN BRI (Ports 2 and 3)

• 56kbps CSU/DSU (Port 2 only)

• T1 CSU/DSU (Port 2 only)
