Low-Speed Data Services Modules include the Legacy Data Module (LDM) and
the Legacy Data Expansion Module (LEM). The LDM and LEM provide legacy
protocol for branch sites connected to a Passport only network. These include FR,
X.25, ITI, tr, SNA, SDLC, DTDS, HTDS. The LDM provides six legacy services
ports; the LEM provides an additional eight ports.
Analog Voice Modules
Two types of analog voice modules are available to provide analog voice support
for the Passport 4400:
• Analog Voice Module (AVM)
• Universal Analog Voice Module (UAVM).
Both modules support Foreign Exchange Station (FXS), Foreign Exchange Office
(FXO), and Ear and Mouth (E&M) connections.
Digital Voice Modules
The Passport 4400 unit supports the T1 Voice Module (TVM) and E1 Voice Module
(EVM) with digital voice connections. One Digital Voice Module (DVM) must be
inserted in the TVM or EVM for each digital voice channel required. To provide
full T1 or E1 support, the Digital Voice Expansion Modules (DVEM) provide
additional slots for DVMs as required.
Safety Information
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL), the Canadian Standards Association
(CSA), and TÜV for Germany request that the following statements of warning
be made in three languages to help in the safe operation of the unit.

Access to the interior of this unit shall be made only by a
qualified technician or Northern Telecom trained personnel.
Connection to the network is to be disconnected before the
main plug is removed.
