STARTING THE ENGINE

Procedure for Starting a Cold Engine

1. Place the transmission in neutral and push the vehicle to a level surface.
2. Lock the parking brake.
3. Turn the fuel tank valve to ON.
4. Sit on the vehicle.

5. Move the choke lever to the FULL position.
6. Turn the ignition key to ON and the engine stop switch to RUN.
7. Press the starter button.
8. Do not press the throttle while starting the engine.
9. Press starter button for five seconds. If engine does not start, release starter

button and wait five seconds; then press starter button for another five se-

conds. Repeat this procedure until engine starts.

NOTE: Do not press the throttle while starting the engine.

After the Engine Starts

1. If the engine slows or stops, use of the choke lever at its HALF position will allow

proper engine warm up.

2. Vary the engine RPM slightly with the throttle to aid in warm up until the engine

idles smoothly. Then move the choke to OFF.

CAUTION: Proper engine warm up is essential each time before driving to avoid

engine damage.

WARNING

Carbon monoxide exhaust gas is poisonous!
Always start the ATV outdoors.
Never run the engine in an enclosed area.
