The purpose of the preparation section is to help
you prepare your machine for operation. The list
below outlines this basic process. Specific steps
for each of these points will be covered in detail
later in this section.

The typical preparation process is as follows:

1.

Unpack the lathe and inventory the contents

of the box/crate.

2.

Clean the lathe and its components.

3.

Identify an acceptable location for the lathe

and move it to that location.

4.

Level the lathe and either bolt it to the floor

or place it on mounts.

5.

Assemble the loose components and make

any necessary adjustments or inspections to
ensure the lathe is ready for operation.

6.

Check/lubricate the lathe.

7.

Connect the lathe to the power source.

8.

Test run the lathe to make sure it functions

properly.

9.

Perform the spindle break-in procedure to

prepare the lathe for operation.
