6. When you have entered the passcode you want, press

7. If you’ve entered the correct passcode, you’ll see:

Rec./Play/Erase?

You may now proceed to step 8.
However, if you’ve entered an incorrect passcode for this voice mail box, your
fax machine to standby mode. This is how the fax protects voice mail box
messages from unauthorized users. Go back to step 1 and repeat the operation.

8. Make sure the handset is hung up.

9. Press

record

again.

The amount of available recording time shown will depend upon the

setting you made in “Setting recording time” (see page 4.2).

10. Speak clearly into the microphone on the answering machine control panel.

Note:

You cannot use the telephone handset to record your message. When

record

, it will begin recording. The LCD will begin counting

down the amount of time left, and ---- if the time is under one minute ----
will count down by seconds:

Rec.Time: 29sec.

Rec.Time: 28sec.

---- and so forth, down to

11. If you finish your memo before the available recording time runs out, press

play/stop

(only once) to stop recording. Otherwise, the fax will sound a beep

and stop recording automatically when time expires.

Each voice mail box will hold multiple messages. However, your answering
machine’s total maximum voice-message capacity (counting the one-minute
memo) is either 32 messages or 15 minutes (see “Storage Capacity,” page
4.2).

3. To check the number of messages in voice mail box 1, skip to step 4.

Otherwise, use the numeric keypad to enter the designated voice mail box
number. Make sure you use a leading zero for any box other than box 10.

4. Press

5. Use the numeric keypad to enter the four-digit passcode for access to the voice

mail box you’ve selected. To move the cursor to a different digit, press one-
touch

to move left or one-touch

to move right.

You may now proceed to step 8.
However, if you’ve entered an incorrect passcode for this voice mail box, your
fax machine will return to standby mode. This is how the fax protects voice
mail box messages from unauthorized users. Go back to step 1 and repeat the
operation.

8. Press

play/stop

. The fax will begin playing any message(s) stored in the

selected voice mail box, while showing you the date and time stamp from
when the message was recorded.

Note:

During playback of messages, you may use the

skip

and

repeat

buttons just as when playing back incoming messages (see page 4.5).

To continue using the voice mail box system, follow the appropriate
instructions for the specific operation you want to perform. Otherwise, press

stop

to cease voice mail box operation and return the fax to standby.
