Special Features
Your fax machine has numerous special features to make your communications
easier. We’ll cover them here.
Cover Page
Your fax machine offers a cover page transmission option for the documents you
send. This feature sends a short cover message before transmitting the rest of the
document. This page includes the date and time, your name, fax number and a
message of up to 40 characters in length.
Note : This depiction (below) of the cover page shows how the page looks if it’s
printed by another plain-paper machine: i.e., it will be a full-length sheet of
paper. However, if you transmit a cover page to a fax machine which uses
thermal paper rolls, that machine will use only as mush of the thermal
paper as is necessary to print the cover page information plus top and
bottom margins.
Note: If you send to another plain-paper fax machine, that machine will print this
cover page as a full-sized page with the information box at the top,
followed by the actual document you’re faxing.
If you send to a thermal-paper fax machine, that machine will use only
enough thermal paper to print the cover page information box plus top and
bottom margins, then proceed to print your faxed document.
Entering the Cover Page Message
To enter a message to appear on the cover page:
1. Press program , 7 , mode/enter , 0 , 8 .

2. Press mode/enter .

3. Now you tell the fax machine whether it transmits the cover page. If not, press
program until the display shows “OFF”, then press mode/enter (and you
can forget the remaining steps for this item).
If you want to transmit the cover page with your pages, press program to
toggle to “ON” and press mode/enter .

4. Enter the message you want to appear on your cover page. Make sure it
doesn’t exceed 40 characters. (As you enter your message, you will only see
the five most recent characters you
entered.)
You can choose among uppercase
letters, lowercase letters, numerals
and symbols. Use the numeric
keypad, as shown, to select
character choices and enter
characters. (For spaces, use the
leftmost character in each line of
choices.)
Note: If you make a mistake, press contrast/cancel to erase, leftward.
Then re-enter unit the name is as you wish.
5. When finished, press mode/enter .
Print Cover Page
If you want to make sure the cover page is as you wish, just print a sample by
pressing
program , 6 , mode/enter , 6 , mode/enter .
