Installing memory

To install or replace memory:

Follow the instructions in
“Preventing static electricity discharge” on

Follow the instructions in
“Opening the server case” on page 26

Pull the plastic tabs away from the sides of the memory module slot. If
you are replacing a memory module, remove the old module.

Align the notch on the new module with the notch in the memory module
slot and press the module firmly into the slot. The tabs on the sides of
the memory slot should secure the memory module automatically.

Follow the instructions in
“Closing the server case” on page 28
.

Turn on the server. Make sure that the server turns on and that the
operating system loads completely.

Restart your server and open the BIOS Setup utility. Verify the amount of
memory installed with the
System Memory
listed in the Main menu.
