4.1.4 Machining with the Y Axis
Machining attributes - milling
The AWG uses the attributes for the
■
Selection of the milling cycle
■
Assigning parameters to the cycle
■
Selection of the cutter
In the IWG the machining attributes are used for automatic tool
selection. In the deburring cycle, the attribute chamfer width is
used to set parameters in the milling cycle.
Machining with the Y axis operates as with the C axis (see User's
Manual, section 6.5.3 Machining Attributes).
Defining machining attributes
> Activate the Y front, Y rear side, or Y surface windows by pressing
the Page up/Page down key.
> Select the menu items Attribute Machining attributes
Milling (under finished part definition).
> Select machining attributes.
> Select the desired milling contour and activate it with the enter
key (the selected milling contour is highlighted).
> Define the milling attributes, or change the existing attributes.

Milling
■
In the machining parameter 10
milling you define the approach and
departing behavior, the safety clearance,
and the allowances.
■
The milling operation is divided into
roughing and finishing in the AWG only if
allowances are registered in the
machining parameter 10 milling.
Generating a machining plan
Milling with the Y axis is essentially the same in its operation and
definition as C axis operation.
The IWG supports the following milling operations (Menu: IWG
Milling):
■
Contour roughing
■
Contour finishing
■
Surface roughing (also applies for pocket milling)
■
Surface finishing (also applies for pocket finishing)
■
Deburring
■
