Y Axis in TURN PLUS

TURN PLUS supports the definition of milling contours and holes

and creates working plans for milling and drilling with the Y axis.
Milling contours/holes

Milling contours are figures (such as slots, rectangles, etc.), linear/

circular patterns or user-definable ”free contours.” Holes are

considered to be individual holes or hole patterns.
Milling and drilling

TURN PLUS supports milling, drilling and boring in the IWG

(Interactive Working plan Generation) and AWG (Automatic

Working plan Generation).

TURN PLUS Milling Contours

Before you enter a milling contour, you must define the workpiece

blank and the turning contour.
”Free contours”

With the elements ”line” and ”arc” you can define any contour.

You simply define the ”starting point of contour,” describe the

contour, and then define the depth of the pocket/contour.
Enter the milling contours

Select the ”pattern” or ”figure.”
Define the ”workpiece surface” to be machined (the ”window

selection” dialog box appears only when a pattern or figure is

selected for the first time. The workpiece surface remains

selected.)

Select the workpiece surface:

Y front face

Y rear side

Y lateral surface

Select the ”milling plane” (reference plane in the Z direction or

reference diameter) – up/down cursor keys or left/right cursor

keys and confirm with ENTER.

Check the ”reference data” – add the ”spindle angle.”
Pattern/Figure parameter, or ”free contour.”
”Free contours”:

End the element selection (ESC key).

End the contour definition (ESC key).

Enter the ”depth” (”pocket/contour” dialog box).

Check the programmed contours in the control graphic.

Before you use the AWG , assign machining

attributes to the contour (see User's Manual,

section ”6.5.3 Machining Attributes”). With the

familiar methods offered by TURN PLUS, you can

determine the sequence of milling operations, the

use of tools, etc.
Note during data input

In hierarchically designed milling contours (pocket

in pocket, holes/figures on a surface, etc.), you can

select among all contours of the hierarchy on a

”workpiece surface” by pressing the up/down

cursor keys. With the right/left cursor key you can

select among the milling contours of a hierarchy

level.

Before you enter a ”free contour”, you

must define it under ”workpiece

surface.” To do so, select any figure or a

pattern and interrupt this dialog after the

selection of ”workpiece surface.”

You can change the ”workpiece

surface” by activating the ”main view”

(XZ window) before selecting the

pattern/figure.

You can change the ”active window”

by pressing the ”Page up/Page down”

key.
