Options
The options available on the FDL Configuration Menu are listed in
.
Rn) enable
inband/FDL
Enables or disables the
use of a portion of the FDL
overhead for end-to-end
communication.
With inband enabled, Verilink proprietary management
messages can be sent through the 4K FDL portion of ESF
framing. Requires ESF FDL continuity end-to-end. This
option has no effect if SF framing is selected. If inband is
enabled on a T1 port certain loopbacks will be dis-allowed
on that port, so that the user does not initiate a test
which causes a loss of communication to the node.
Sn) trunk
condition bits(A/B)
Selects a bit pattern to be
sent when a T1 facility is
unavailable because a red
alarm condition exists.
For customer equipment using A/B signalling (typically a
PBX), this option selects a pattern sent to indicate a trunk
is not available. Often voice equipment considers 1/1
(A=1, B=1) as a trunk busy indication—making that DS0
unavailable.
F) FDL
configuration
Calls a submenu with
options pertaining to the
use of the 4K Facilities
Data Link on an ESF T1.
See the section "
C) copy port
Used to copy all of the
settings for a port to one
or all three of the other
ports.
First configure the port to be copied, then use this
command. Indicate the port to be copied from first, then
indicate which ports are to receive the copied settings.
T) timing
Selects the timing
submenu.
See the section “
X) exit this menu
Exits the
