Description
Instructions
In) in service
Places ports in or out of
service.
Place ports in service before building circuits to them.
Type “I1” to place port 1 in service, “I2” for port 2, etc.
Fn) frame format
Selects the SuperFrame
(SF) method of framing the
T1 signal or the Extended
SuperFrame (ESF) method.
SF is another term for D4
framing—they are
identical.
If a QUAD T1 port connects to a standard T1 circuit
provided by a telephone carrier—select the framing type
that the T1 facility uses.
If using "private copper," select ESF—it offers superior
error checking abilities.
Ln) line coding
Selects Alternate Mark
Inversion (AMI) or Binary
Eight Zero Substitution
(B8ZS) as the method of
bipolar coding on the T1
circuit.
If a QUAD T1 port connects to a standard T1 circuit
provided by a telephone carrier—select the line coding
type that the T1 facility uses.
If using "private copper," select B8ZS—it allows
unrestricted use of the full 64K in each DS0.
Bn) line build out
Selects attenuation level of
DS-1 transmit signal.
Use 0db when connecting
to a "smart jack" network
termination device.
This option is only applicable to ports with DS-1
interfaces. Ports 1 and 2 of a CIM 3003 are DS-1 ports. All
4 ports of a CIM 3064 present a DS-1 interface.
The QUAD T1 module detects which type of CIM is fitted
at power up and appropriate fields are available or
marked

n/a.
En) equalization
Selects the signal boost on
the interface from the CSU
to the customer DSX-1
equipment. Use 0-133 if
the cable to the DSX-1
device is less than 133
feet long.
This option is only applicable to ports with DSX-1
interfaces. Ports 3 and 4 of a CIM 3003 are DSX-1 ports.
All 4 ports of a CIM 3068 present a DSX-1 interface.

NDn) network
density
Selects the density
enforcement technique.

12.5% for an AMI T1 facility.
NLn) network
initiated loop
Determines whether the
QUAD T1 module will
respond to received
requests for line
loopbacks (CSU loopback).
Select
yes
yes
yes
yes unless a specific reason exists to dis-allow
loopbacks. A brief burst of errors will occur each time this
option is changed.
If the QUAD T1 module is in a network service provider
environment it may be desirable to inhibit loopbacks.
An) alarm declare
time(sec)
Length of time, in
seconds, alarms may exist
before an alarm condition
is declared.
Use zero to disable alarm reporting.
DLn) FDL enable
PRM enable
Enables or disables the
use of the 4K Facilities
Data Link available only on
an ESF T1.
If this option is selected while the framing type is set to
SF, the following message is shown:
