All testing must be stopped before channels may be reallocated to an active port.
This field specifies the direction the BERT signal is sent. If the direction is
changed from the front panel, the new choice is not updated on the terminal
interface until this screen is exited and then reentered. The choices are: IDLE, T1
NET, Channels 1-24, plus XY NET and X Y DTE, where X = 3 through 6 and Y =
A through F. The choices are shown in Table 4-5.
Pattern
This field specifies the pattern to be transmitted during a test. Modifying this field
does not cause the pattern to be transmitted (refer to Start Test). The choices are

,1:8, 3:24, ALT, and CLEAR. The
CLEAR
pattern passes the received data through the unit (alarm detection and reporting is
disabled while the test is active). 511 is the only choice for the DSU MP.
Test Length
This field defines the run-time of test pattern generation and error accumulation.
The choices are Continuous, 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, 24 hour. Continuous is the
only choice for the DSU MP.
Start Test
Pressing Enter with the cursor on this field starts the selected test pattern.

Reset Errors
Pressing Enter with the cursor on this field clears the test error results.
The following fields are for display only. They reflect the selected test parameters and
the results of these tests only.
Pattern Sync
Displays the current state of pattern sync during a test. If no test is in progress, NO
TEST is displayed. If a test is active, but the receiver is not in pattern sync, NO
SYNC is displayed. If the receiver is in pattern sync, IN SYNC is displayed.

Description
T1 NET
Tests the T1 network.
SLOT
Tests the designated assigned slot, DSU, port, and direction.
Slots are selected in the left field at BERT and range at 3 through 6.
DSUs, ports, and directions are selected in the right field at BERT. DSU
ranges from 1 through 6; ports are A and B, and the directions are
network and DTE.
This selection does not appear if no channels are assigned to any DSU.
CHAN
Tests a designated unassigned channel, beginning with the lowest. This
selection does not appear if all channels are assigned.
IDLE
Tests all unassigned channels at once. This selection does not appear if all
channels are assigned.
