3. After making the settings, press the F1 [BACK]
button to return to the
MASTERING
screen.
4. The
EQ
item on the
MASTERING
screen shows
whether the mastering equalizer is ON or OFF.
Using the mastering compressor
You can use either a single-band or multiband
mastering compressor.
Since using a multi-brand compressor allows you
to separate the low, medium and high frequency
bands of a stereo master track and independently
process them with different settings, you can adjust
the overall sound pressure balance. By doing this, you
can suppress unwanted peaks, raise the overall gain
to increase the sound pressure and achieve a sound
with greater impact.
1. When in
MASTERING
mode, press the F2 [COMP]
button to open the
MASTERING COMP
screen.
2. Press the F3 [LIB] button to open the
MASTERING
COMP
library.
COMPx3
as the
TYPE
indicates a multiband
compressor.
COMPx1
indicates a single-band
compressor.
3. Use the data wheel to select (highlight) a preset
in the library, and press the F4 [EXEC] button.
After loading the preset, the
MASTERING COMP
screen reopens.
4. Press the F4 [PARM] button to open the
MASTERING COMP
parameter setting screen.

Single-band compressor example
At this time, the selected band is shown in the
upper left.
When using a multiband compressor, press the
F2 [BAND] button to cycle through the bands
that can be set in order:
LOW BAND
w
MID
BAND
w
HIGH BAND
(w
LOW BAND
).
When using a single band compressor, press the
F2 [BAND] button to switch between
BAND
and
A.MAKEUP
screens.
5. Use the F3 [5] and F4 [b] buttons to select
(highlight) a parameter you want to set, and use
the DATA wheel to adjust its value.
When a setting is at its default value,
i
appears to
the right of the value.
The ranges for each parameter are as follows.
THRSHLD
Set the threshold value that causes the
compressor to activate when exceeded.
Range: -32dB (default) – 0dB
RATIO
Set the compression ratio.
Options: 1.0:1, 1.1:1, 1.3:1, 1.5:1, 1.7:1, 2.0:1, 2.5:1,
3.0:1, 3.5:1, 4.0:1, 5.0:1, 6.0:1, 8.0:1, 16.0:1, inf:1
LEVEL
Set the output level.
Options: -20dB – +20dB
6. Press the F2 [BAND] button when using a
multiband compressor to change the frequency
band to
LOW BAND
,
MID BAND
or
HIGH BAND
,
and set the parameters for that band.
Press the F2 [BAND] button when using a single-
band compressor to show the
A.MAKEUP
setting.
Turn the automatic makeup function ON or OFF.
When ON, the unit will automatically adjust
the volume after compression so that it is not
decreased.
When this setting is at its default value,
i
appears
to the right of the value.
