Description
Variolink® Esthetic try-in pastes are water-soluble glycerine pastes. The try-in
pastes enable the shade effect of all-ceramic restorations (veneers, inlays,
onlays, crowns and bridges) to be simulated which are to be cemented with
Variolink Esthetic luting composite.
Please note that the shade and translucency of the try-in pastes correspond to
that of the cured (!) Variolink Esthetic luting composite.
Shades
The Variolink Esthetic try-in pastes are available in five shades:

The shade of the try-in pastes slightly deviates from that of the respective
uncured luting composite, as the luting composite only obtains its final shade
after curing.
The shade effect of the try-in pastes is coordinated with that of the fully cured
luting composite of the same thickness.
Composition
The Variolink Esthetic try-in pastes contain glycerine, mineral fillers and dyes.
Indication
Simulation of the shade of the permanent luting composite.
Contraindication
Do not use the try-in pastes if the patient is known to be allergic to any of the
material’s ingredients.
Side effects
The hygroscopic try-in pastes cause fluid movement within the dentin tubules.
As a result, the patient may feel temporary discomfort. Therefore, the try-in
procedure should be carried out under anaesthetic or after desensitization
with a desensitizer (e.g. Telio® CS Desensitizer).
Interactions
Completely rinse any try-in paste residue from the restoration and the tooth
with water prior to applying the permanent cement. Otherwise, the bond
between the restoration and Variolink Esthetic may be compromised.
Application
– Shade simulation with the help of try-in pastes must always be carried
out before the working field is isolated or the teeth are dried, since drying
temporarily lightens the tooth structure.
– Apply a small amount of the selected try-in paste to the restoration and
carefully seat it without pressure. If the restoration cannot be seated
easily, check the inner surface of the restoration as well as the proximal
regions for any premature contacts. Do not forcefully seat the restoration
(risk of fracture!).
Note:
The occlusion of brittle ceramic restorations should be checked very
cautiously or only after the restorations have been permanently
cemented, as there is a risk of fracture.
– The try-in pastes are water-soluble and can be easily removed under
running tap water or using ultrasonic cleaners. Make sure to thoroughly
clean and dry the restoration.
– Thoroughly clean the tooth structure with water spray.
– Subsequently, adhesively cement the restoration using Variolink Esthetic
(see Variolink Esthetic Instructions for Use).
Shelf life and storage
– Do not use Variolink Esthetic try-in pastes after the expiry date.
– Storage temperature: 2-28 °C / 36-82 °F.
– Expiry date: see note on syringes and packages.

Variolink® Esthetic Try-In Pasten sind wasserlösliche Glycerinpasten. Mit den
Try-In Pasten lässt sich die Farbwirkung von vollkeramischen Restaurationen
simulieren (Veneers, Inlays, Onlays, Kronen und Brücken), die mit Variolink
Esthetic Befestigungscomposite eingegliedert werden sollen.
Bezüglich Transparenz und Farbe entsprechen die Try-In Pasten dem
polymerisierten (!) Variolink Esthetic Befestigungscomposite.

Die Try-In Pasten weichen farblich leicht von den entsprechenden Farben des
nicht-ausgehärteten Variolink Esthetic Befestigungscomposites ab, da das
Befestigungscomposite erst nach der Polymerisation seine definitive Farbe
aufweist.
