Preparing for Cementation
Conditioning of the restoration and preparation depends on the cementation method used, as well as the cementation
material. The following paragraphs describe the basic working steps to prepare for cementation. Please refer to the
Instructions for Use of the corresponding cementation material regarding the detailed processing procedure.
Conditioning of the restoration
Conditioning of the ceramic surface in preparation for cementation is decisive for generating a sound bond between the
cementation material and the all-ceramic restoration.
Observe the following procedure for IPS e.max CAD-on restorations:
– The inner aspects of IPS e.max CAD-on restorations may be cleaned with Al
2
O
3
at a maximum pressure of 1 bar (15 psi)
before cementation.
– Thoroughly clean the IPS e.max CAD-on restoration with water and blow dry.
– For adhesive cementation, condition the bonding surface using Monobond
®
Plus. Apply Monobond Plus to the inner
aspect, let it react for 60 seconds and subsequently blow dry.
– High-strength zirconium oxide ceramics (inner aspect of the IPS e.max CAD-on restoration) are generally not etched
with a hydrofluoric acid gel (IPS Ceramic Etching Gel), as no etching pattern is created.
* The conditioning procedure is not necessary for self-adhesive or conventional cementation
Please observe the corresponding Instructions for Use.
