Using Insight
Insight New Feature Overview
Insight includes many new features but was designed to remain simple and easy-to-use. Here’s a
list of new features included in this release, which are available in the Windows, Mac and WMS
teacher.
Insight Connection Server
The Faronics Insight Connection Server is a new, optional method to run Faronics Insight, based
on a client-server architecture. The traditional Insight install is based on a peer-to-peer
architecture. The Faronics Insight Connection Server will reduce the need for configuration
changes to routers and wireless access points to support wired/wireless environments and
VLANs.
The existing peer-to-peer architecture will still exist and in many instances may still be the
preferred method to install Insight.
Faronics Insight will also support a hybrid environment of both peer-to-peer and client-server
architectures.
Distance Teaching
Faronics Insight is proud to be the first classroom management vendor to provide Distance
Teaching over the Internet. Classroom management is no longer bound to the internal school
network. Teachers will now have the same award-winning Insight features to help students miles
away! Distance Teaching combines the best aspects of Insight with the webRelay technology of
webNetwork to offer a complete end-to-end solution.
Insight Distance Teaching requires the additional purchase of the webNetwork Unified Cloud
Platform.

Classroom Management from the Cloud
A new capability has been introduced to integrate with *Stoneware's webNetwork Cloud. As a
result, classroom management can now be delivered from the Cloud. Organizations can now
provide classroom management for students who are connecting to the Cloud in a Bring Your
Own Device (BYOD) classroom setting.
One advantage of this model is that students and teachers no longer have to install Faronics
Insight locally. Rather, students and teachers authenticate to the webNetwork Cloud and are
delivered the appropriate Faronics Insight On-demand agent. The Faronics Insight On-demand
agent runs on the device until the next log off or reboot.
