FSB
Front side bus. The data path and physical interface between the
microprocessor and RAM .

Foot (feet). A measurement of length that equals 12 inches.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol. A standard Internet protocol to exchange files between
computers on the Internet. Like http , which transfers HTML pages and
related files, FTP is a protocol that uses the Internet's TCP/IP protocols.

Gravities. A measurement of weight and force.

Gram. A measurement of mass and weight.
GB
Gigabyte. A measurement of data or drive storage capacity that equals 1024
MB (1,073,741,824 bytes ).
GHz
Gigahertz. A measurement of frequency that equals one thousand million
Hz , or one thousand MHz .
GUI
Graphical user interface. Software that interacts with the user by means of
menus, windows, and icons. Most applications that operate on the Microsoft
Windows OS are GUIs.
Hard-Drive Controller
A computer component that provides an interface with an individual hard
drive. With the introduction of IDE , the controller was produced as a chip
integrated into the hard-drive housing, whereas it was previously a dedicated

Heat Sink
A piece of heat-conductive metal that can be attached to the top of a chip ,
such as the microprocessor , to draw heat away and allow the chip to operate
at a cooler temperature.
