1 Overview
1.1 Introduction
This manual covers the configuration of the ESML6-P3 series using the Command Line
Interface (CLI) and the instructions of the command set.
1.2 Switch Management Methods
The ESML6-P3 series industrial Ethernet switches are managed by the following methods:
•
Connecting a terminal (or terminal emulation software) with the switch’s Console
port to access the switch’s CLI.
•
Using Telnet to manage the switch using CLI.
•
Using SNMP to manage switch.
•
Using a Web browser to manage the switch.
1.3 Console Management
If using the Console RJ45 serial port on the front panel of the switch to connect with
switch’s built-in CLI interface the configuration of the Console port is as follows:
•
Baud Rate
9600
•
Bit
8
•
Parity
None
•
Stop Bit
1
•
Flow Control None
When connecting the switch using the Console port, VT100 terminal emulation is
recommended. To configure this at the hyper terminal interface select the ‘file’ menu,
‘attribute’ and ‘configure’ then select VT100 from the list.
2 CLI Commands
2.1 Logging in
The user can log into the Command Line using either the serial port or Telnet. To log in
using the serial port, connect the serial port between a computer and the switch. Power
up the switch, select the serial port and press
port.
Note
: For any changes made after the switch has been rebooted the ‘Save’ command
must be used after configuration.
