12.2 SNMP configuration

12.2.1 Enabling/Disabling SNMP

This function either enables or disables SNMP and this is the main switch SNMP function.

Enable SNMP

SWITCH(config)#snmp enable

Disable SNMP

SWITCH(config)#no snmp enable

12.2.2 Read/Write community name

The function of setting the access control to either read or write for a community name
enhances the device security because it will only accept a message with a qualified

Setting read only community name:

Setting read/write community name:

SWITCH(config)#snmp community <3-16> rw

Add trap IP address:

SWITCH(config)#snmp add-trapip <1-5>

Where<1-5> is the Trap IP serial number and is the Trap IP address.

Delete trap IP address:

SWITCH(config)#snmp del-trapip <1-5>

Where <1-5>is the Trap IP serial number
