The two commands above have the same function.

2.2.7 History Command

The switch software keeps a record of the last 10 commands the user has typed in. To
show the command history list, use the following:

SWITCH#show history

2.3 Common Commands

Below are some of the more common commands.

2.3.1 Mode Configuration

The CLI provides two modes: Read Only and Configuration. Using the Read Only mode,
the user can only read a part of the system configuration information. Using the
Configuration Mode, the user can read and configure all the system configuration
information and also use some commands to enter certain protocols independent of the
Configuration Mode.

Read Only mode, the prompt ends with ‘>’ i.e. ‘SWITCH>’

Configuration mode, the prompt ends with ‘#’ i.e. ‘SWITCH#’

To enable the Configuration Mode go into the Read Only Mode and type the command:

SWITCH>enable

Select . If a password has been set up it should be entered here.

Password:

After entering the password you are now in the Configuration Mode. To come out of
Configuration Mode, use the following command:

SWITCH#disable
